As my yeast samples ferment , the off odors are now present in all of them. I ordered a microscope, because I don’t like the idea of not seeing what I’m working with. With the Yeast wrangling kit, it’s not part of the process just to dump the samples in fresh wort, it includes petri dishes and agar powder to make cultures . The idea is your trying to isolate beneficial saccharomyces by color, but I think it also beneficial to see the cells up close to further identify them before pitching a small sample for scaling.
Im going to try and get more scientific literature so I can learn more about the biology of yeast and making cultures. I do have the benefit of having a sister who runs a laboratory, and her husband who has produced pharmaceutical cultures industrially , but to summarize I got a lot of concern about infection and contamination, certainly more reactive then the wild yeast videos where they pitch and pray without much concern. 🫣
When I’m doubt , get educated !
Above is a clunky zoom meeting, but the speaker has a PHD in microbiology,
